Who We Are Print

We find in scripture that the people of God have always done three things: joined in worship, discovered more about God, and served one another and others out of love. That is what we do at St. John. That is who we are as well. We believe, in fact, that to Worship, Discover and Serve are actually the Biblical processes of maturity. It moves us from being about 'us' to being about 'them.' And so it is that our program year follows that same pattern. We begin with 'us' in the fall - examining ourselves and our relationship with God. Throughout the year, we engage more and more in ministry to 'them' - people outside of our church. As the program year progresses the 'them' gets further and further away from us - to the very literal ends-of-the-earth in Africa! This too follows the Biblical directive of Jesus who said to those in Jerusalem 'you will be my witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.' (Acts 1:8) In short, St. John has fully adopted the Biblical process of spiritual maturity and employs it using the Biblical model of implementation.
