| In addition to exceptional academic and Christian education, our students have these extracurricular activities to look forward to…just to name a few!
Athletics ~ St. John is proud to begin offering competitive athletics to our student body beginning in fourth grade. A smaller student body ensures a chance for everyone to compete! For more information on our offerings, click here.

Chess Club ~ Beginning in fourth grade, students can either learn the game of or refine their chess strategy in Chess Club. Mr. Shaffer sponsors this after-school enrichment program.
“Future City” ~ Beginning in fifth grade, students can take part in the National Engineers Week Future City Competition! The mission is to provide a fun and exciting educational engineering program for seventh and eighth grade students that combines a stimulating engineering challenge with a "hands-on" application to present their vision of a city of the future. St. John has a proud tradition of competing in Future City with great success, most recently winning the 2011 State competition and finishing 4th in the 2011 Nationals. For more information about Future City, visit their website at www.futurecity.org.
Middle School Musical ~ Each spring, the middle school produces and performs a musical performance for the community. All middle school students have the opportunity to try out for a variety of roles, including acting, chorus, or production responsibilities. Musical productions previously performed at St. John include “Tom Sawyer”, “Lumberjacks and Wedding Belles”, “Krazy Kamp”, “Inspector Incognito”, “Music Man Jr.”, “Kokonut Kapers”, and “Tied to the Tracks.”
MOPS Helpers ~ With parental permission, 7th and 8th grade students can support St. John Lutheran Church’s Mothers of Pre Schoolers (MOPS) program by assisting with child care one time per month. The three hour session allows the students to make a difference in the lives of young mothers, as well as earn NJHS “Joy Hours.”
National Junior Honor Society ~ NJHS ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for middle school students. Chapters exist in more than 60% of the nation’s middle schools and, since 1929, millions of students have been selected for membership. NJHS is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, which also sponsors the National Honor Society. To qualify, interested 6th-8th grade students must meet a minimum grade requirement in each subject, as well as document their leadership, character, citizenship, leadership, and service traits. A faculty committee reviews all submissions and votes to extend invitations to NJHS.
School Store ~ Middle school students have the opportunity to handle all aspects of the school store: tracking inventory, ordering, sales, handling of finances, etc.
Scouting ~ St. John offers a variety of scouting programs for both boys and girls of all age levels. Parent involvement and initiative is imperative for a successful scouting program! Look for more detailed information when the school year begins.
